The purpose of MySpace: to pimp your music?

I keep receiving MySpace messages from people I don't know who want me to listen to their band's music. Does this tactic work? I usually just ignore the messages.

    I think the original intent of MySpace was to be a place for bands to pawn their music. Or at least I remember reading that somewhere.

    I'm not sure, but you can set up your account to block bands from emailing you. I have checked that option already. lol
