Yukata!

Ampontan at Japundit has written a piece about yukata, the Japanese "summer kimono". I love those things. They are so comfy. I always slept in mine, at the ryokans. They are really nice to pull on right after a bath, too.

I'd like to get a few pretty ones :)

Neat, neat!! I think kimonos and yukatas are SO gorgeous, and such pretty items of clothing!! I have a "cheongsam" dress actually FROM china, but as for asian fashions, that's the closest I've ever come. I'd have to get that thing altered, too, though, to actually be able to wear it, because my hips are more curvy than the dress, and I've lost a LOT of weight since I bought it.. Girlie, I say YOU don a yukata, I'LL put on my cheongsam, we'll get Mari and Jeannie and Candi to put on their bestest bellydance attire, and let's all go to The Gap; they've got some AWESOME new jeans styles coming in!!! :D

Wow, that was my majorly materialistic comment for the day!! ;)

LOL!

I want a cheongsam, too...they're so gorgeous.

There's a shop that sells them right up the street from me, but it'd be a laugh trying to find one in my size. (I think they can actually make/alter them, though...)

Easy peasy to find them in ANY size; I bought MINE before after I'd started losing weight, but hadn't lost NEARLY all that I did. I found mine on ebay, so take your measurements, or better yet, I'LL do it for you (it's always easier/more accurate if someone else does them) and search by measurement on ebay, it's that simple! And yes, they CAN be altered, because my waist is much smaller than my hips, and even though like I said earlier, the whole dress is EXTREMELY ROOMY on me now, it's still a rather straight cut dress I bought, so it does need to be taken in, darts added, etc., etc., for it to look and FIT correctly. You SHOULD get you one, though!!

I think I MAY wear mine for Halloween this year, get it altered, wear it with the crazy black and red wig I've got, and make myself into some crazy goth-ish something or other --anime' style... ;)

You could then go and hang out with Gwen Stefani.
