No house for us

We aren't ready.

This is off-season for real estate, so you aren't getting the best selection. You'll have to just keep looking until you find something in your price range in the area you want, that has all the features you want. Sometimes that takes awhile.

Before you deal with a realtor, you should go talk to a lendor and see how much you are approved for, so you know in what price range you should look, and also if there are any problems with your credit report you need to first address.

That's what we did, and that's why we're not ready to buy a house.

Our credit rules, but we don't make enough money to buy the kind of house we want. Sean isn't interested in buying a crappy starter home, so we're just going to live in apartments again.

I feel like I've been put through a wringer.

Sean is very fiscally conservative. He's decided he doesn't want a house until he makes a lot more money or until I have a job. He sees buying a house as going into debt.

And that's that.

Lots of people feel that way, and in a way, the house IS debt. You have to buy stuff for it, and fix things when it breaks. But 10 years from now, you have a significant amount of equity in the real estate, and that's not debt.

It is risky, though, isn't it? I mean, once you've put all that money into the house, will you ever really get it all back?

I actually feel kind of relieved, because I don't know that I want to live here forever, and renting means we can move pretty much immediately if we want to.
