There are 5,640 people in the U.S. named James Cooper.

That's really very surprising to me. I expected a whole lot more...

There are only two people with my (legal) name, and I know both of them because one is me and the other is my father.

There are 155,000 Tims and 961,000 Timothys. Which isn't unexpected (One in 300 people are Tims? Crazy).

There are 0 People in all of the US with my last name, and obviously 0 people with my exact name.

Which is good to know, since I'm in Canada anyway.

James: I've been meaning to ask: is your middle name Fenimore? ;)

Ross: That's because you're speshul.

Tim: Oh yeah? Get a load of this:

There are 505,447 people in the U.S. with the first name Heather.

Statistically the 104th most popular first name. (tied with 2 other first names)

More than 99.9 percent of people with the first name Heather are female.

I'd hope so, on that last one...

There are 47,995 people in the U.S. with the last name Meadows.

Statistically the 716th most popular last name. (tied with 54 other last names)

Famous people with the last name Meadows:
Audrey Meadows
Shane Meadows
Tim Meadows

And for kicks, I checked out my old last name.

There are 4,230 people in the U.S. with the last name Aubrey.

Statistically the 7927th most popular last name. (tied with 86 other last names)

There are apparently only 7 people in the US named Heather Aubrey. Man, my name used to be pretty unique!

(I wonder if I'm one of those? I don't know where they're getting their records. Maybe they're counting me by accident.)

Heh, I mostly get asked the Fenimore question by English teachers and the occasional English major.

But, the answer is no. My middle name is actually my Japanese name. My parents elected to make both my brother and me's first names English and our middles names reflective of our Japanese halves.

My middle name is Isamu (kanji = courage) and by younger brother's middle name is Ryu (kanji = dragon). The amusing part is that my dad was a big fan of samurai dramas when I was born so I was named for Kondo Isamu of Shisengumi fame and when my brother was born he was into martial arts films so he was named Dragon in tribute to Bruce Lee :-)

Jair: wh00t!

James:

<-- English major

And cool! It seems like a lot of Japanese-Americans do that, use a Japanese name for the middle name.

Isamu and Ryu are meaningful names for me. My husband is a huge Macross fan. Isamu is the protagonist of Macross Plus, and Ryu is the name my husband used for his Macross RPG character :D

Cool story about your middle names :)

If you do look at the about link, they mention that the results are taken from the 1990 US Census report. Depending on how long you've been married, you may be included prior to your current name.

The link is here: http://ww2.howmanyofme.com/accuracy/

Aha! Well, I've only been married since 2003.

So there you have it.

Thanks!
