Heh. What a fun episode.

We get to see Mikuru being dressed up and dressed down by Haruhi, Kyon wanders around and complains in some miserable weather, and we get what must have been more than a minute of Yuki sitting around with the faint sound of people doing Japanese voice-warming and pronouciation exercises (Badly, I might add. (Reminds me of REC)).

Also, Kyon's kind of a closet pervert for Mikuru. ;p

Also, a little fun with Mikuru's green-haired classmate Tsuruya.

We're also seeing some kind of timeline being set-up, since the film (And technically episode 01 AKA 00) must have happened around episode 12, if not 11. I figure that because something went wrong during the Cultural Festival, which means at least an episode to that.

Man, I just love this show so much. It drives people inssne though. I've found some people I partially-force into watching it want to skip episodes to watch things in 'proper order'. Particularly since the Murder Mystery was only one episode apart, they skip the in-between.

Also, I found a couple animated GIFs that show the comparison between Haruhi's poses during the accusation part of the murder mystery and the Pheonix Wright games. It's a hilarious reference and something I wish I had picked up on. (Since the game's impossible to find. <_<)

Anyway... 6 days left to the next release of Haruhi!

Releasing the episodes "out of order" is a unique and intriguing storytelling device. I wouldn't want to watch them "in order" from the get-go.

I do plan on going back and watching them chronologically once I've seen them all, though. I'm curious to see if they'll work that way, too :)

But I think there is a rhyme and reason behind the release order. I don't have time to delve too deeply into it right now, but one example is how Haruhi's feelings for Kyon are being brought out. We're seeing more and more evidence that she cares for him; I think this release order allows for that evidence to build upon itself. Also, we're learning the backstory gradually, instead of in a straightforward manner, which we would have had we seen the episodes "in order".

I find stories that "begin in the middle" to be the most interesting and engaging. Virtually every episode of Haruhi is like that :)

(Also, re: the closet pervert thing...Kyon's a gentleman, to a degree, but he's still male ;> Seriously, I think that sort of feigning-sleep-to-see-girls-changing-clothes is an anime staple. Tatsuya almost did it in Touch [but then he lost his nerve and coughed, which we can imagine Kyon might do too].)

The pronunciation exercises were so interesting. I wish I could have heard them better. That seems like something cool to practice.

I liked the TV references, too, although I was really hoping I'd recognize at least one of them.
