Light lunch reading material

God, sometimes Xeni Jardin pisses me off.

The must-have trash accessory for those who suck down their MP3s in a doublewide
Yes, because all smokers live in trailers, and obviously people who live in trailers are garbage.

It's okay to say this, of course, because "hicks" and "rednecks" do not have "culture", and are therefore inferior lifeforms, worthy only of being mocked.

Fucking elitist bitch.

I feel your pain. For a time I enjoyed the tid-bits from boing-boing, but after the rather disgusting display of anti-(americanism, militarism) and elitist, self-serving peace mongering in their, "Look at the poor crying Iraqi girl" post, I haven't gone back.

I could totally understand it, had our troops actually gunned down the girl's parents for no reason, but these parents (with child in car) RAN A CHECK POINT. In a country where a 19 year old with the mind of 4 year old was wrapped in explosives and sent to a polling place.

Yeah, so...Obviously our troops had no reason to shoot. Clearly, what the wolrd needs is someone to trumpet this tragic event to the world. Let us shed crocadile tears for this child, and then gleeful blame her pain on the U.S. Military as part of out Anti-Bush agenda! It is, with out doubt, THE RIGHT THING TO DO.

They could have written it up with compassion. They could have attempted lay out the stark facts. If they had done that, and then asked the question "Did it have to happen? Did our troops react with too much zeal?" I might not be swayed, but I would still have respect for them. But, they chose to be, as one of your commentors properly described it, snarky.

Anyway, boing-boing's politics disgust me. Their smary, self aggrandizing attitude disgusts me. But that's just me.

Eh, now that we got to get all that off our chests - and I agree with all of it, don't doubt - I WOULD like to point on thing out. To carry around anything other than cigarettes in a Marlboro Lights pack IS kind of redneck and trailer-trashy. :>

This is coming from a full-time smoker from the south, mind. ;D

Although that tiny guitar amp fit into a Kamel Red pack was pretty badass. ;D

Now, if the iPod were inside a Kamel Reds pack, would it then be cool?
